Heritage Open Day

Please come and join us on Heritage Open Day, Saturday 12th September at 2.30pm, as we are lucky enough to have one of our volunteer key holders, James Simister, to give us a half-hour talk entitled ‘Magna Carta, and changes in the Church’.

James has an Honours History degree from Southampton University, and says; ‘The crisis of 1215 forced King John to make far-reaching and unprecedented concessions. Thus began the development of Parliament and the Rule of Law, and Magna Carta has inspired the international growth of human rights and due legal process.’

There will be a small Magna Carta exhibition, and refreshments.

Grand Sale

Our annual fundraising sale will be on Saturday  26th September, from 11am – 3pm.  We would be pleased to have donations of books, cakes, crafts and ‘nearly new’ (not jumble, please).  Items can be brought to the church on Friday 25th from 2pm – 4pm, or Saturday 26th from 9.30am onwards.  Books can be left in the bell tower at any time.  Many thanks.

AGM with a difference!

Sunday 25th October at 2.30pm. This year, after a brief business meeting (of about 10 minutes), we will be showing a power-point presentation about the history of St. Peter’s and it’s connections with Preston Manor and the village.

We can assure you that it will be interesting.  Come and find out about your church and its local links!

This meeting will be open to everyone, so please bring your friends. Refreshments will be served.

St Peter's on Facebook

If you have a Facebook account you can now keep track of what is happening at St Peters and find out easily about any up and coming events and special days.

There is also a link to some fantastic photographs by architectural photographer Andy Marshall.

There is a Like button on each page of this website which helps you let your friends know about St Peter's and its website.

Hopefully you will find both sites helpful and maybe even leave your own memories, comments or photos on our Facebook page.

Hire St Peter's

Are you looking for a space to hire for an exhibition, maybe a concert or display, even a regular meeting place?

St Peter's church is ideally located, not far from the centre of Brighton in Preston Park, one of Brighton's biggest and busiest Parks. We are next to Preston Manor, one of Brighton's most successful museums and have excellant bus services and some parking nearby.

Although St Peter's does not have toilet or kitchen facilities, during the day public toilets are available in the park itself.

St Peter's is a single nave church with the following dimensions:

Nave: Width 7.9 m Length 15 m

Chancel: Width 4.4 m Length 8.6 m

Tower: Width 2.4 m Length 3.2 m

Please note that the chancel, due to the choir stalls and altar area, is not all one useable space.

Details on booking St Peter's can be gained on our contacts page.
